Abstract

Abstract This invention relates to stable suspensions of substantially monomer-free, insoluble, powdered tolylene diisocyanate distillation residues in polyhydroxyl compounds, to a process for producing these suspensions and to the use of the suspensions thus produced as the polyol component in the production of optionally foamed polyurethane plastics.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim 110 words
Dispersions comprising (A) from 2% to 60% by weight, based on the total weight of the dispersion, of a crosslinked distillation residue which is insoluble in inert organic solvents and which cannot be melted without decomposing, and which contain less than 15% by weight of free isocyanate groups, of the type accumulating in the form of slag in the removal of monomeric tolylene diisocyanates by distillation which are ground to an average particle size of less than 350 m / μ as the disperse phase in (B) compounds containing at least two aliphatic hydroxyl groups and having an average molecular weight of from 400 to 10,000 as the coherent phase.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 110 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 18 words
A dispersion as claimed in claim 1, wherein component (A) has first been quenched and denatured in water.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 28 words
A dispersion as claimed in claim 1, wherein the free isocyanate groups of component (A) have first been reacted completely or partially with compounds containing acid hydrogen atoms.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 26 words
A dispersion as claimed in claim 1, wherein component (A) is present in from 5% to 50% by weight, based on the dispersion as a whole.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 22 words
A dispersion as claimed in claim 1, wherein component (A) is ground to an average particle size of less than 25 mμ.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 22 words
A dispersion as claimed in claim 1, wherein component (A) is ground to an average particle size of less than 5 mμ.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 18 words
A dispersion as claimed in claim 1, wherein component (A) has been modified by reaction with carbonyl compounds.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 20 words
A dispersion as claimed in claim 1, wherein component (A) has been modified by reaction with an olefinically unsaturated compound.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 32 words
A dispersion as claimed in claim 1, wherein component (B) is a compound containing from 2 to 6 aliphatic hydroxyl groups and having an average molecular weight of from 600 to 3000.
