Claim 1
Independent Claim
62 words
In a process for visbreaking crude and resid feeds containing a quantity of metal values promoting the significant formation of coke, the improvement which comprises carrying out the visbreaking with an effective amount of at least one inorganic sulfide of an alkali metal sulfide, an alkaline earth metal sulfide, hydrogen sulfide or ammonium sulfide admixed with said feed to suppress coke formation.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
32 words
The process of claim 1 wherein the amount of sulfide is about 0.05 to 5% S proportioned to a transition metal value represented by a nickel level of 50 to 2000 ppm.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
19 words
The process of claim 2 wherein the visbreaking is conducted in the presence of steam supplied at 100-2000 psig.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
11 words
The process of claim 1 wherein the sulfide is sodium sulfide.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
11 words
The process of claim 1 wherein the sulfide is hydrogen sulfide.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
11 words
The process of claim 1 wherein the sulfide is ammonium sulfide.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
60 words
A process for the treatment of heavy crudes and resids comprising transition metal values, to reduce viscosity and pour point, including a visbreaking operation wherein the charge stock is admixed with an effective amount of an inorganic sulfide of an alkali metal sulfide, an alkaline earth metal sulfide, hydrogen sulfide or ammonium sulfide to suppress coking during said visbreaking operation.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
60 words
A process for the treatment of heavy crudes and resids comprising transition metal values, to reduce viscosity and pour point, including a visbreaking operation wherein the charge stock is admixed with an effective amount of an inorganic sulfide of an alkali metal sulfide, an alkaline earth metal sulfide, hydrogen sulfide or ammonium sulfide to suppress coking during said visbreaking operation.
