Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim 58 words
An alloy particularly suitable for brazing and metallizing consisting, in addition to minor amounts of impurities and incidental elements if any, essentially of gold in a predominant amount, a minor amount of vanadium, a minor amount of a constituent selected from the group consisting of yttrium, scandium and mixtures thereof, and optionally including a minor amount of niobium.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 58 words
An alloy particularly suitable for brazing and metallizing consisting, in addition to minor amounts of impurities and incidental elements if any, essentially of gold in a predominant amount, a minor amount of vanadium, a minor amount of a constituent selected from the group consisting of yttrium, scandium and mixtures thereof, and optionally including a minor amount of niobium.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 65 words
An alloy according to claim 1 which consists on an atomic percentage basis essentially of: from about 4% up to about 15% vanadium; from about 0.008% up to about 0.2% of the constituent selected from the group consisting of yttrium, scandium, and mixtures thereof; from 0% up to about 3% niobium, the balance of the alloy being gold and impurities and incidental elements, if any.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 19 words
An alloy according to claim 2 wherein the amount of the vanadium is from about 4% to about 5%.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 18 words
An alloy according to claim 1 wherein the selected constituent is yttrium in an amount of about 0.02%.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 14 words
An alloy according to claim 2 including niobium in an amount of about 0.5%.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 34 words
The alloy according to claim 2 wherein the amount of the vanadium ranges from about 4% up to about 5% and the selected constituent ranges from about 0.008% up to about 0.02% in amount.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 14 words
An alloy according to claim 6 including niobium in an amount of about 0.5%.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 27 words
An alloy according to claim 2 wherein the amount of the vanadium is about 4-5% and the selected constituent is yttrium in an amount of about 0.02%.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 14 words
An alloy according to claim 8 including niobium in an amount of about 0.5%.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 64 words
A brazing alloy having a melting point in excess of about 1900° F. and capable of forming hermetic and corrosion resistant joints, the alloy consisting, in addition to impurities and incidental elements, essentially of gold in a major amount and the following constituents in minor amounts: vanadium, a constituent selected from the group consisting of yttrium, scandium, and mixtures thereof, and optionally including niobium.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 64 words
A brazing alloy having a melting point in excess of about 1900° F. and capable of forming hermetic and corrosion resistant joints, the alloy consisting, in addition to impurities and incidental elements, essentially of gold in a major amount and the following constituents in minor amounts: vanadium, a constituent selected from the group consisting of yttrium, scandium, and mixtures thereof, and optionally including niobium.
