Abstract An unsaturated polyester resin which contains at least 0.3% by weight of silica particles having an ultimate particle size within the range of 4-70 millimicrons, whose particles have their surface coated with a quaternary ammonium salt which contains at least 1 organic radical of at least 6 carbon atoms in chain length.
