Abstract
Abstract Non-gelled polyalkylenepolyamine polyethers are prepared by the reaction of ethylenediamine and polyepichlorohydrin in the presence of an organic solvent. The solvent enables the reactants to be present at less than a 3:1 ratio of polyamine per chlorine atom.

A method for preparing a water-soluble amine-derived polyether, comprising: reacting ethylenediamine with a halogen-containing polymer of an epihalohydrin in the presence of an organic solvent at a temperature ranging from about 120° C. to about 200° C., and wherein the ratio of moles of ethylenediamine per available halogen atom is less than 3:1.
