Abstract
Abstract The invention is a machine for closing a folded seam which utilizes two opposing cheeks driven by an eccentric drive to execute an impact movement to the cheeks. The two opposing cheeks include a helical surface which creates the fold by forming the metal from a vertical position to a horizontal position as it passes through the cheeks. Immediately behind the cheeks in the direction of movement of the work piece is a hammer which is also driven by an eccentric on a drive shaft in order to hammer the fold as it is received in its horizontal position. The hammer movement is transversed to the direction of movement of the cheeks as well as perpendicular to the direction of movement of the work piece.
