Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim
92 words
A method of making an absorbent article, comprising the steps of: perforating a film of thermoplastic material; placing the perforated film and a sheet of fluid pervious material against a surface of an absorbent pad with the film located intermediate the sheet and pad; and heating the sheet and film in a region of the sheet and film adjacent the pad surface and spaced from marginal edges of the pad to enlarge perforations in said region of the film while leaving a substantially fluid impervious border around the edges of the pad.
Claim 2
Independent Claim
92 words
A method of making an absorbent article, comprising the steps of: perforating a film of thermoplastic material; placing the perforated film and a sheet of fluid pervious material against a surface of an absorbent pad with the film located intermediate the sheet and pad; and heating the sheet and film in a region of the sheet and film adjacent the pad surface and spaced from marginal edges of the pad to enlarge perforations in said region of the film while leaving a substantially fluid impervious border around the edges of the pad.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
15 words
The method of claim 1 wherein said heating step fuses the film to the pad.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
17 words
The method of claim 1 wherein said heating step fuses the film to the sheet and pad.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
18 words
The method of claim 1 including the step of compressing the heated film and sheet against the pad.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
21 words
The method of claim 1 including the step between the perforating and placing step of placing the sheet against the film.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
32 words
The method of claim 1 including the step of placing the sheet against the film prior to the perforating step, and in which said perforating step perforates the placed sheet and film.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
25 words
The method of claim 1 wherein said heating step comprises the step of passing a heated roll against the placed sheet to heat the film.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
24 words
The method of claim 1 wherein the heating step comprises the step of blowing hot air against the placed sheet to heat the film.
