A system for imaging a portion of a body including: a collimator comprising a body of substantially radiation-impervious material defining a first plurality of channels, said first plurality of channels each having an axis, said axes of the first plurality of channels being substantially in parallel with each other and intersecting a portion of the body, thereby producing a first view of the portion of the body; and said body of substantially radiation-impervious material also defining a second plurality of channels, a portion of said second plurality of channels intersecting at least a portion of said first plurality of channels, said second plurality of channels each having an axis, said axes of the second plurality of channels being substantially in parallel with each other and intersecting the same portion of the body as the axes of the first plurality of channels, thereby simultaneously producing a second view of the same portion of the body; a radiation-detecting camera coupled to the collimator for providing data signals in response to radiation from the collimator; data processing means operatively connected to the camera for sorting said data signals according to the view to which the data pertains and a first display means operatively connected to the data processing means for displaying images of the portions of the body corresponding to said views in real time.
Claim 58
Independent Claim 222 words
Claim 59
Dependent Claim 31 words
The system of claim 48 wherein the data processing means includes a memory having a first and second area for storing the data pertaining to the first and second views respectively.
Claim 60
Dependent Claim 57 words
The system of claim 48 wherein the system further comprises a gating system responsive to signals derived from an organ having a cyclic motion and operatively connected to the processing means to provide timing information signals to enable the data processing means to determine the portion of the cycle to which the data from the camera pertains.
Claim 61
Dependent Claim 21 words
The system of claim 48 wherein the data processing means includes a disc memory for storing the data from the camera.
Claim 62
Dependent Claim 18 words
The system of claim 48 wherein the data processing means includes a tape memory for storing the data.
Claim 63
Dependent Claim 44 words
The system of claim 48 wherein the data processing means comprises a first data processor for sorting said data signals according to the view to which the data pertains and a second data processor for further processing said data to obtain medical diagnostic information.
Claim 64
Dependent Claim 35 words
The system of claim 53 wherein the system further comprises a second display means operatively connected to the second data processor for displaying images of the portion of the body from said further processed data.
Claim 65
Dependent Claim 25 words
The system of claim 53 wherein the system further comprises a printer operatively connected to the second data processor for printing said medical diagnostic information.
