Abstract
Abstract Acoustic ultrasonic waves are launched in a block of single-crystal material, such as alpha-quartz, by means of a transducer fastened to one end of the block. The waves are steered by electrically altering the properties of the crystal between the piezoelectrically unstiffened and stiffened excitation modes.
