Claim 1
Independent Claim
136 words
In the process for the preparation of a liquid developer for use in a toner image transfer process for developing electrostatic images which comprises preparing a homogeneous paticulate mixture of at least one pigment and at least one copolymer of vinyl toluene or styrene with an ester of acrylic or methacrylic acid, the improvement which comprises dispersing and grinding the mixture in an electrically insulating carrier liquid composed of an aliphatic hydrocarbon or a mixture of aliphatic hydrocarbons having a boiling point or boiling range in the range of 120° to 200° C. in the absence of an additional solvent for the polymer, at a temperature in the range of about 50°-150° C. at which temperature the polymer of the mixture is appreciably soft, and continuing grinding the resulting mixture as it cools to room temperature.
