Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 17
Claim 1
Independent Claim 62 words
A method of preparing a cathode material is improved conductivity comprising the steps of mixing a quantity of polymeric material selected from the group consisting of P2VP, P4VP and mixtures thereof with a quantity of iodine sealing the mixture in a sealed container and heating the mixture to a temperature of at least about 225° C. for a predetermined period of time.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 62 words
A method of preparing a cathode material is improved conductivity comprising the steps of mixing a quantity of polymeric material selected from the group consisting of P2VP, P4VP and mixtures thereof with a quantity of iodine sealing the mixture in a sealed container and heating the mixture to a temperature of at least about 225° C. for a predetermined period of time.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 27 words
The method of claim 1 in which the heating temperature is between about 225° C. to about 320° C. and the heating time is about 1 hour.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 12 words
The method of claim 1 in which the polymeric material is P2VP.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 19 words
The method of claim 3 in which the heating temperature is between about 225° C. and about 320° C.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 16 words
The method of claim 4 in which the heating time is less than about 8 hours.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 25 words
The method of claim 1 including the additional steps of adding additional iodine to the resultant material to form a cathode material of improved density.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 15 words
The method of claim 1 in which the iodine addition is made at room temperature.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 18 words
The method of claim 1 in which the material contains nI 2 where n is at least 1.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 25 words
The method of claim 1 in which the material comprises P2VP.nI 2 and n is about 3.3 or less expressed in terms of mole ratio.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 17 words
The method of claim 9 including the additional step of adding additional iodine to the resultant material.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 29 words
The method of claim 10 wherein the additional iodine is in an amount which provides a final mole ratio of idine to polymer component of at least about 20:1.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 27 words
The method of claim 10 wherein the additional iodine is in an amount which provides a final mole ratio of iodine to polymer component of about 40:1.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 17 words
The method of claim 11 wherein the material is pressed to a density of about 4.7 g/cc.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim 11 words
The method of claim 1 wherein the polymeric material is P4VP.
Claim 16
Independent Claim 37 words
A method of preparing a material comprised of a polyvinylpyridine and iodine comprising the steps of mixing the two components together and heating them in a sealed container to a temperature in excess of about 225° C.
Claim 17
Independent Claim 37 words
A method of preparing a material comprised of a polyvinylpyridine and iodine comprising the steps of mixing the two components together and heating them in a sealed container to a temperature in excess of about 225° C.
