Abstract

Abstract Uniformly dyed water-swellable cellulosic fibers which are fast to washing, dry-cleaning, sublimation and light and have been produced by contacting water-swellable cellulose fibers sequentially or concomitantly with water, ethylene glycol or a derivative thereof and, while the fibers are still swollen, an essentially water-insoluble dye of the formula ##STR1## in which D is the radical of a diazo component; R is hydrogen, C 1 to C 7 alkyl, phenyl or phenyl bearing methyl as a substituent; X is cyano, carbamoyl or substituted carbamoyl; R 1 is hydrogen or an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, araliphatic or aromatic radical; R 2 is hydrogen or an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or araliphatic radical; R 3 and R 4 independently of one another have the same meanings as R 1 and R 2 ; and R 1 --n--r 2 and R 3 --N--R 4 independently of one another are saturated heterocyclic radicals.
