Abstract

Abstract A voltage sensitive switch is provided characterized by an irreversible change in resistance from a high resistance state greater than one megohm to a low resistance state less than one thousand ohms and comprising a mixture of substantially pure grade copper powder with copper oxide powder which further contains a binder. Said switch interconnects a pair of spaced electrodes for use in sequentially firing a plurality of flash lamps.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim 114 words
A voltage responsive switch for sequentially firing a plurality of flashlamps by an irreversible change from a high electrical resistance to a low electrical resistance when activated by a voltage in excess of the threshold voltage, said switch comprising switch material interconnecting a pair of spaced electrodes, said switch material comprising a mixture of an organic polymer binder with pure grade copper powder of approximately 99.99 percent purity and copper oxide powder in weight ratios of copper oxide to copper in the range of approximately eight parts copper oxide and one part copper to one part copper oxide and four parts copper, said powders having particle sizes of between approximately 1 and 30 microns.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 114 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 15 words
A voltage responsive switch as in claim 1 wherein said binder is an epoxy resin.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 29 words
A voltage responsive switch as in claim 2 wherein said binder is present in an amount of approximately one part binder to five parts copper-copper oxide powder by weight.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 21 words
A voltage responsive switch as in claim 2 wherein said powders have particle sizes of between approximately 1 and 10 microns.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 17 words
A voltage responsive switch as in claim 2 wherein said electrodes are spaced approximately 100 mils apart.
