Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim 100 words
A process for suppressing nitrogen-oxide formation in burning of hydrocarbon fuel oil comprising the steps of emulsifying from 12% with 25% water with said fuel oil, burning said fuel oil in a combustion chamber in a flame at or above 3000° F. and wherein (i) said emulsifying of said hydrocarbon with a water is carried out with a gaseous dispersing fluid to form a fuel emulsion (ii) and said emulsion is passed under a higher pressure to a burner head and thence into a furnace at a lower pressure, causing said dispersing fluid to expand and disperse said fuel emulsion.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 100 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 13 words
A process as defined in claim 1 wherein said dispersing fluid is air.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 27 words
A process as defined in claim 1 wherein said burning is carried out in a vapor-bearing atmosphere which comprises three to 13% of water vapor or steam.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 23 words
A process as defined in claim 3 wherein said water-vapor-bearing atmosphere comprises a quantity of hydrocarbon fuel which is insufficient to support combustion.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 13 words
A process as defined in claim 1 wherein said dispersing fluid is steam.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 47 words
A process as defined in claim 1 wherein said emulsifying includes the step of intimately contacting some steam, water and a small portion of said fuel in a conditioning zone, mixing effluent from said conditioning zone with fuel, and supplying the resultant mix to said burner head.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 35 words
A process as defined in claim 6 wherein said process is operated with a quantity of water fed into said conditioning zone which is equal to about 5% of hydrocarbon fuel burned in said process.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 101 words
A process as defined in claim 1 wherein said process comprises burning said hydrocarbon with a quantity of water equal to from 12% to 25% by weight of hydrocarbon fuel and burning said hydrocarbon at from about 2600° F. to about 3100° F. water forming means to minimize the formulation of nitrogen oxides, (i) emulsifying said hydrocarbon with a water and a gaseous dispersing fluid to form fuel emulsion and (ii) passing said emulsion under a higher pressure to a burner head and into a furnace at a lower pressure, causing said dispersing fluid to expand and disperse said fuel emulsion.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 43 words
A process for suppressing nitrogen-oxide formation in burning of hydrocarbon fuel oil comprising the steps of emulsifying from 12% to 25% water with said fuel oil and burning said fuel oil in a combustion chamber in a flame at or above 3000° F.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 43 words
A process for suppressing nitrogen-oxide formation in burning of hydrocarbon fuel oil comprising the steps of emulsifying from 12% to 25% water with said fuel oil and burning said fuel oil in a combustion chamber in a flame at or above 3000° F.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 111 words
A process as defined in claim 9 comprising the steps of burning hydrocarbon fuel with a quantity of water equal to from 12% to 25% by weight of said hydrocarbon fuel at from about 2600° F. to about 3100° F. said water forming means to minimize the formulation of nitrogen oxides dispersing said burning wherein said process also comprises the steps of, (i) emulsifying said hydrocarbon with a water and a gaseous dispersing fluid to form a fuel emulsion and (ii) passing said emulsion under a higher pressure to a burner head and into a furnace at a lower pressure, causing said dispersing fluid to expand and disperse said fuel emulsion.
