Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 18
Claim 1
Independent Claim 117 words
An oral mouthwash or toothpaste composition effective in inhibiting the formation of dental calculus without adversely affecting tooth structure comprising (1) a dental calculus inhibiting amount of at least about 0.01% of a polyamine polyphosphonate selected from the group consisting of those of the formula: ##STR2## wherein n is a number from 1 to 10, or a pharmaceutically acceptable water soluble salt thereof; and (2) a paste or flavored mouthwash carrier suitable for use in the oral cavity, the pH of the oral composition being within the range of from about 5.0 to about 11.0, said composition being free of calcium abrasives which would yield enough soluble calcium to significantly impair the anticalculus activity of said polyphosphonate.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 117 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 99 words
An oral mouthwash or toothpaste composition effective in inhibiting the formation of dental calculus without adversely affecting tooth structure comprising (1) a dental calculus inhibiting amount of at least about 0.01% of hexamethylene diamine tetra(methylene phosphonic acid) or a pharmaceutically acceptable water soluble salt thereof and (2) a toothpaste or flavored mouthwash carrier suitable for use in the oral cavity, the pH of the oral composition being within the range of from about 5.0 to about 10,0, said composition being free of calcium abrasives which would yield enough soluble calcium to significantly impair the anticalculus activity of said polyphosphonate.
Claim 4
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 99 words
An oral mouthwath or toothpaste composition effective in inhibiting the formation of dental calculus without adversely affecting tooth structure comprising (1) a dental calculus inhibiting amount of at least about 0.01% of ethylene diamine tetra(methylene phosphonic acid) or a pharmaceutically acceptable water soluble salt thereof; and (2) a toothpaste or flavored mouthwash carrier suitable for use in the oral cavity, the pH of the oral composition being within the range of from about 5.0 to about 11.0, said composition being free of calcium abrasives which would yield enough soluble calcium to significantly impair the anti-calculus activity of said polyphosphonate.
Claim 6
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 23 words
A composition of claim 1 wherein the polyamine polyphosphonate is tetramethylene diamine tetra(methylene phosphonic acid) or a pharmaceutically acceptable water soluble salt thereof.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 14 words
A composition of claim 1 wherein said oral composition is an oral hygiene product.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 13 words
A composition according to claim 5 wherein said oral composition is a toothpaste.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 13 words
A composition according to claim 5 wherein said oral composition is a mouthwash.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 15 words
A composition according to claim 2 wherein said oral composition is an oral hygiene product.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 13 words
A composition according to claim 8 wherein said oral composition is a toothpaste.
Claim 13

Claim 15
Dependent Claim 13 words
A composition according to claim 10 wherein said oral composition is a toothpaste.
Claim 16
Dependent Claim 13 words
A composition according to claim 10 wherein said oral composition is a mouthwash.
Claim 17
Dependent Claim 116 words
An oral mouthwash or toothpaste composition effective in inhibiting the formation of dental calculus without adversely tooth structure comprising (1) a dental calculus inhibiting amount of at least about 0.01% of a polyamine polyphosphonate selected from the group consisting of those of the formula: ##STR3## wherein n is a number from 2 to 6, or a pharmaceutically acceptable water soluble salt thereof; and (2) a toothpaste or aqueous-alcohol mouthwash carrier suitable for use in the oral cavity, the pH of the oral composition being within the range of from about 5.0 to about 11.0, said composition being free of calcium abrasives which would yield enough soluble calcium to significantly impair the anticalculus activity of said polyphosphonate.
