Abstract

Abstract A dialkylbenzene isomer mixture consisting essentially of ethyltoluene or diethylbenzene obtained directly by ethylation respectively of toluene or ethylbenzene and which does not require separation of the resulting isomers by prior distillation is provided, which mixture, as obtained, is substantially devoid of the ortho isomer and consists essentially of about 90 to about 99 weight percent of the para isomer and about 1 to about 10 weight percent of the meta isomer.
