Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 54 words
A method of inactivating herpes simplex virus infectivity in humans which comprises applying to the affected area an effective amount for treating herpes simplex virus of a nonionic surfactant in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, said nonionic surfactant having at least one ester or ether-ester linkage between the hydrophobic and hydrophilic portions of the molecule.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 54 words
A method of inactivating herpes simplex virus infectivity in humans which comprises applying to the affected area an effective amount for treating herpes simplex virus of a nonionic surfactant in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, said nonionic surfactant having at least one ester or ether-ester linkage between the hydrophobic and hydrophilic portions of the molecule.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 16 words
The method of claim 1 wherein the amount of surfactant present is between 0.5 and 20%.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 23 words
The method of claim 1 wherein the carrier is selected from the group consisting of polyethylene glycol, mineral oil, petrolatum and propylene glycol.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 11 words
The method of claim 1 wherein the surfactant is sorbitan monopalmitate.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 13 words
