Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 13
Claim 1
Independent Claim
83 words
A support appliance comprising a resilient air permeable body capable of supporting a user and a cover extending over at least that portion of the body which supports the user, the cover comprising a two-way stretch material which is free-water proof but is chemically/physico-chemically porous to permit transmission of gaseous water vapour on the outside of said portion of the surface area to within the body and from which the water vapour can be dispersed when subjected to a differential water vapour pressure.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
33 words
A support appliance as claimed in claim 1 wherein the cover of the chemically/physico-chemically porous material extends over only the surface of the body which is uppermost in use to receive the user.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
59 words
A support appliance as claimed in claim 1 wherein the resilient air permeable body is provided with a fully enclosing cover of the chemically/physico-chemically porous material having a physically porous panel extending over at least part of the lowermost side of the body to permit venting from the body to atmosphere of the water vapour dispersed through the body.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
35 words
A support appliance as claimed in claim 3 wherein the physically porous panel is attached to the remainder of the cover by a releasable attachment to facilitate removal of the cover from the resilient body.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
36 words
A support appliance as claimed in claim 4 wherein the physically porous panel is attached to the remainder of the cover by a zip or zips to facilitate removal of the cover from the resilient body.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
38 words
A support appliance as claimed in claim 1 wherein means are provided for supplying a flow of gas through the air permeable body to remove water vapour transmitted through said portion of the surface area of the body.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
19 words
A support appliance as claimed in claim 1 wherein the air permeable body is formed from a resilient foam.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
43 words
A mattress cover comprising a sheet of two-way stretch material which is free-water proof but is chemically/physico-chemically porous to permit transmission of gaseous water vapour from one side of the cover to the other side when subjected to a differential water vapour pressure.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
43 words
A mattress cover comprising a sheet of two-way stretch material which is free-water proof but is chemically/physico-chemically porous to permit transmission of gaseous water vapour from one side of the cover to the other side when subjected to a differential water vapour pressure.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
16 words
A cover as claimed in claim 8 having means for holding the cover on a mattress.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim
28 words
A cover as claimed in claim 9 having a skirt around its periphery for engaging around the periphery of the mattress to hold the cover on the mattress.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim
22 words
A cover as claimed in claim 8 wherein the cover comprises a plain sheet having press-studs to attach it to a mattress.
