Abstract

Abstract A novel process is disclosed for the preparation of polyester carbonates containing both carboxylate and carbonate groups. The process is based on the making of a mixed polyanhydride ester of a dibasic acid which is reacted with a dihydroxy compound to form a hydroxy containing intermediate that is subsequently transformed into a polyester carbonate by means of a carbonate forming reagent.
