Abstract
Abstract Process for promoting uniform and low levels of migration in drying of moist textile webs impregnated with treating agents using cylinder drying machines, by removing the vapor layer formed on the reverse surface of the textile web not contacting the heated cylinders during the continuous passage of the web through the heat transfer zone by suction or transverse blowing over the width of the web. Devices for carrying out this process are described.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 11
Claim 1
Independent Claim
150 words
A method for controlling migration of a treating agent in drying a moist textile in a cylinder drying machine, said drying machine having a heated drying cylinder and said textile being in the form of a structured fiber web being made of a synthetic fiber or a blend of synthetic and natural fiber and being impregnated with the treating agent that remains permanently in the web after drying, said method comprising the steps of continuously passing the web over the heated drying cylinder said drying cylinder being heated to a temperature high enough to cause the formation of a vapor layer on the surface of the web opposite the surface of the web in contact with the heated drying cylinder and simultaneously removing the vapor layer at a rate which varies with the fiber and structure of the textile web to ensure controlled levels of migration of the treating agent.
Claim 2
Independent Claim

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
30 words
The method, as claimed in claim 1, wherein said removing step comprises blowing a gas onto the surface of the web opposite the surface in contact with the heated cylinder.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
18 words
The method, as claimed in claim 2, wherein said blowing step comprises blowing a gas at varying velocities.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
25 words
The method, as claimed in claim 2, wherein said blowing step comprises blowing a gas over at least part of the width of the web.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
26 words
The method, as claimed in claim 2, wherein said blowing step comprises blowing a gas in a direction substantially perpendicular to the surface of the web.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
15 words
The method, as claimed in claim 2, wherein said blowing step comprises blowing hot air.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
29 words
The method, as claimed in claim 1, wherein said removing step comprises applying suction to the surface of the web opposite the surface in contact with the heated cylinder.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
15 words
The method, as claimed in claim 7, wherein said suction is applied at varying rates.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
23 words
The method, as claimed in claim 7, wherein said suction is applied over at least a part of the width of the web.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
23 words
The method, as claimed in claim 7, wherein said suction is applied in a direction substantially perpendicular to the surface of the web.
