Abstract
Abstract Bis-benzoxazolyl compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 independently of one another denote hydrogen, halogen, optionally substituted C 1 -C 8 -alkyl, optionally substituted C 1 -C 4 -alkoxy, aralkyl, aryl, carboxyl, cyano, C 1 -C 4 -alkoxycarbonyl, carboxamide which is optionally substituted by C 1 -C 4 -alkyl, aryl or aralkyl, or C 1 -C 4 -alkylsulphonyl, or 2 adjacent radicals R 1 -R 4 represent a fused, optionally substituted aromatic or hydroaromatic ring, are suitable for the brightening of plastics and of polyester fibres.
