A lubricant composition comprising a major amount of a lubricant base constituting an oil of lubricating viscosity or greases thereof and a minor amount sufficient to impart improved antiwear properties to the lubricant composition of a 1,2,3-substituted triazole characterized by the formula: ##STR16## where R 1 and R 2 are individually selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group containing from 1 to 18 carbon atoms; an aryl group; hydrogen; and ##STR17## and wherein at least one of R 1 and R 2 is other than hydrogen and where n is an integer from 5 to 15.
