Abstract 1,5-dihydroxy-4,8-diaminoanthraquinone compounds of the formula I <IMAGE> (I) wherein Y represents a linear or branched alkyl group of 1 to 5 carbon atoms, R represents a hydrogen atom, an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl group of 1 to 5 carbon atoms or the cyclohexyl group, and EACH OF R1 and R2 independently represents a hydrogen atom, the methyl, ethyl or iso-propyl group.
