A lubricant composition comprising (1) a base fluid consisting essentially of a mixture of linear fluorinated polyethers having the following formula: R.sub.f O(CF.sub.2 CF.sub.2 O).sub.m (CF.sub.2 O).sub.n R.sub.f, wherein R f is CF 3 or C 2 F 5 , m and n are integers whose sum is between 2 and 200 and the ratio of n to m is between 0.1 and 10; and (2) a corrosion-inhibiting amount of a perfluoroalkylether substituted aryl phosphine having the following formula: ##STR7## wherein one of the R's is a perfluoroalkylether group, two of the R's are fluorine, and n is 1, 2 or 3.

A lubricant composition comprising (1) a base fluid consisting essentially of a mixture of linear fluorinated polyethers having the following formula: R.sub.f O(CF.sub.2 CF.sub.2 O).sub.m (CF.sub.2 O).sub.n R.sub.f, wherein R f is CF 3 or C 2 F 5 , m and n are integers whose sum is between 2 and 200 and the ratio of n to m is between 0.1 and 10; and (2) a corrosion-inhibiting amount of a perfluoroalkylether substituted aryl phosphine having the following formula: ##STR7## wherein one of the R's is a perfluoroalkylether group, two of the R's are fluorine, and n is 1, 2 or 3.

The lubricant composition according to claim 1 in which the amount of the phosphine ranges from about 0.05 to 5 weight percent, based upon the weight of the base fluid.
