Abstract
Abstract A laminated glass-plastic antenna windshield having an elongated conductive element, such as a wire embedded in preferred positions by a thermoplastic polyurethane layer, which is the plastic layer of the laminated antenna windshield. The antenna windshield has a higher Q-value than similar laminated antenna windshields provided with a layer of polyvinyl butyral to carry the elongated electroconductive element and those that carry the wire in positions other than said preferred positions.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim
110 words
A transparent antenna windshield comprising one sheet of glass, a preformed sheet of thermoplastic polyurethane laminated to the inner surface of said glass sheet, and an antenna consisting essentially of elongated electroconductive wire embedded in said polyurethane sheet and adapted for coupling to a radio for use as an antenna circuit element, wherein said windshield is a bilayer windshield having a single sheet of glass disposed outward of said preformed sheet of thermoplastic polyurethane, and said embedded electroconductive element is located within the thickness of said preformed sheet in closer relation to said inner surface of said one sheet of glass than said other major surface of said preformed sheet.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
78 words
An antenna windshield as in claim 1, wherein said glass sheet has a thickness of 50 to 250 mils (1.27 to 6.35 mm), said polyurethane sheet has a thickness of 5 to 60 mils (0.127 to 1.524 mm), and said wire has a thickness of 0.1 to 5 mils (0.00254 to 0.127 mm), but sufficiently less than that of said polyurethane sheet to have the wire embedded completely to one side of the mid-plane of said polyurethane sheet.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
21 words
An antenna windshield as in claim 1, wherein said wire is encapsulated in a non-electroconductive sheath that is impervious to moisture.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
14 words
An antenna windshield as in claim 1, wherein said glass sheet is chemically tempered.
