Abstract

Abstract Surgical pressure sensitive adhesive compositions having improved long term skin adhesion characteristics comprising a polyacrylate, rubber, or polyolefin pressure sensitive adhesive and a cross-linked hydrophilic random interpolymer. The interpolymer comprises an ester of an α,β-olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acid and an alcohol having a quaternary ammonium group; an α,β-olefinically unsaturated comonomer; and a difunctional cross-linking monomer. The adhesive compositions are useful in surgical adhesive tapes, adhesive bandages, and like items comprising a pressure sensitive adhesive.
