Abstract
Abstract The invention provides a polyurethane foam of increased rigidity. The invention is provided by impregnating a flexible polyurethane foam with a thermosetting melamine, urea or benzoguanamine resin and a cross-linker, and then reacting the resin with the cross-linker.

A process for the manufacture of a polyurethane foam of increased rigidity which comprises impregnating a flexible polyurethane foam with at least one thermosetting melamine, urea or benzoguanamine resin and at least one cross-linker selected from the group consisting of polycarboxylic acids which contain at least three carboxyl groups, and polyanhydrides which contain at least two carboxylic acid anhydride groups per molecule, and then reacting the resin with the cross-linker.
