Abstract

Abstract A normally solid biodegradable hydrolyzable polyester resin of diglycolic acid and an unhindered glycol having a molecular weight sufficiently high so as to provide a polymeric material possessing self-supporting film forming properties and the process of preparing the same and the use of the polymeric material as a device for the controlled continuous administration of a predetermined dosage of a drug to a living animal.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim 63 words
A pharmaceutical composition for the controlled continuous administration of a predetermined dosage of a drug to a living animal comprising a normally solid biodegradable, hydrolyzable polyester resin of diglycollic acid and an unhindered glycol, having a molecular weight sufficiently high so as to provide a polymeric material possessing self-supporting film forming properties, which has dispersed uniformly throughout said polyester resin, a drug formulation.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 63 words
A pharmaceutical composition for the controlled continuous administration of a predetermined dosage of a drug to a living animal comprising a normally solid biodegradable, hydrolyzable polyester resin of diglycollic acid and an unhindered glycol, having a molecular weight sufficiently high so as to provide a polymeric material possessing self-supporting film forming properties, which has dispersed uniformly throughout said polyester resin, a drug formulation.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 42 words
A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1 in which the polyester resin contains a reacted content of up to 25 mole percent of at least one α,β-ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid based on the total moles of all of the dicarboxylic acids present.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 14 words
A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1 in the form of a self-supporting film.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 42 words
A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1 in which the polyester resin contains a reacted content of up to 10 mole percent of at least one α,β-ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid based on the total moles of all of the dicarboxylic acids present.
