Abstract

Abstract The conducting path width of a spiral printed circuit coil is reduced for the inside of the spiral coil to obtain more inductance in the same space without substantial sacrifice in Q. In another form of spiral coil with non-constant path width, the path width is reduced in a sector of the coil located between the inner and outer terminals to reduce the distance between terminals with minimum sacrifice in inductance or Q.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 3
Claim 1
Independent Claim 74 words
A printed circuit coil of spiral configuration formed on a surface plate of insulating material providing substantially all of the inductance of a resonant circuit and composed of a layer of conducting material in a continuous spiral path providing a plurality of coil turns with a substantially constant spacing between adjacent turns and further having the improvement that the path width is not uniform and decreases from the outside turn to the inside turn.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 74 words
A printed circuit coil of spiral configuration formed on a surface plate of insulating material providing substantially all of the inductance of a resonant circuit and composed of a layer of conducting material in a continuous spiral path providing a plurality of coil turns with a substantially constant spacing between adjacent turns and further having the improvement that the path width is not uniform and decreases from the outside turn to the inside turn.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 37 words
A printed circuit coil as defined in claim 1, in which each successive turn of the spiral proceeding from the inside to the outside, is of greater average path width than the preceding turn inside of it.
