An improved built dry powder laundry detergent composition in the form of spray dried beads consisting essentially of the following ingredients in the following ranges of percentages by weight: (a) from 15 to 20% of a sodium linear alkyl benzene sulfonate detergent; (b) about 12% amorphous water-soluble sodium silicate having an Na 2 O:SiO 2 ratio between about 1:2 and 1:3; (c) from 25 to 35% of a member selected from the group consisting of sodium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate, sodium sesquicarbonate and mixtures of same; and (d) from 25 to 45% sodium sulfate.
