Abstract
Abstract Disclosed are a method and apparatus for developing a pictorial field display from transmitted facsimile data. The display, which comprises an array of two level ("on"/"off") energy sources such as light emitting diodes, achieves multitone operation by digitally controlling the time duration during which the energy sources are activated. Received data is stored in a multiport memory connected to the energy sources, permitting the simultaneous activation of the energy sources in the array.
