Abstract

Abstract A surface layer type secondary-electron multiplier consisting of a support and a secondary-electron emissive and electron-conductive high-polymer layer formed thereupon is disclosed. For forming the secondary-electron emission layer, paint consisting of an electron-conductive high-polymer dissolved or suspended in solvents is used. Alternatively, the support may consist of a nitrogen- or sulphur-containing electron-donor polymeric composition which may be molded or formed, and a charge-transfer complex conductive layer may be formed upon the support.
