Abstract

Abstract Paraffinic hydrocarbons are dehydrogenated in contact with a catalytic composite comprising from about 0.01 to about 2.0 wt. % Group VIII metal and from about 0.01 to about 0.1 wt. % lithium impregnated on an alumina support, said alumina having been hydrothermally treated in steam at a temperature of from about 800 DEG to about 1200 DEG C.

Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim 98 words
A process for dehydrogenating a paraffinic hydrocarbon which comprises contacting said hydrocarbon at dehydrogenation reaction conditions including a temperature of from about 400° to about 700° C. with a catalytic composite of from about 0.01 to about 2.0 wt. % Group VIII metal component and from about 0.01 to about 0.1 wt. % of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal component with a precalcined alumina support which has been hydrothermally treated with steam at a temperature of from about 800° to about 1200° C. after its calcination and prior to the compositing of said metal components therewith.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 98 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 34 words
The process of claim 1 further characterized in that said catalytic composite contains a tin component in from about a 0.5:1 to about a 2:1 atom ratio with a Group VIII metal component thereof.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 41 words
The process of claim 1 further characterized in that said hydrothermal treatment comprises heating said alumina support in an atmosphere comprising from about 5 to about 50 vol. % steam at a temperature of from about 800° to about 1200° C.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 41 words
The process of claim 1 further characterized in that said hydrothermal treatment comprises heating said alumina support in an atmosphere comprising from about 20 to about 40 vol. % steam at a temperature of from about 900° to about 1100° C.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 23 words
