Abstract

Abstract An elastomeric pavement repair composition for pavement failure and a method of preparation thereof comprising of paving grade asphalt and rubber. The asphalt is heated to an elevated temperature and the rubber is combined therewith. The resulting composition is mixed to form a hot jellied composition which can be applied to cracked or distressed pavements to repair the same.

Claim 12
Independent Claim 115 words
A method of sealing joints and cracks in structures which comprises the steps of: a. preparing a hot elastomeric material consisting essentially of paving grade asphalt and non-oil resistant asphalt-soluble rubber by heating paving grade asphalt to a temperature of from about 300° F to about 500° F to form hot liquid asphalt, and mixing from about one part to about five parts by weight of the hot asphalt with about one part by weight of particulate non-oil resistant asphalt-soluble rubber to form a jellied composition; b. injecting the hot elastomeric material into the crevice of a joint or crack to seal and fill the same; and c. allowing the injected elastomeric material to cool.
