Claim 1
Independent Claim 163 words
An improved switch mode regulator for supplying a regulated voltage from a source of unregulated voltage to an external load impedance of the type having a transformer with a primary and secondary winding, said primary winding being connected in series with said source of unregulated voltage; a transistor having a collector, emitter and a base, said collector and emitter being serially connected with said primary winding and said load impedance; means for coupling energy induced in said secondary winding to said external load impedance; and means for periodically foward biasing the base-emitter junction of said transistor in response to variations of said regulated voltage with respect to a reference voltage, wherein the improvement comprises: a. means for storing a portion of the energy supplied by said secondary winding during periods when said transistor is nonconducting; and b. means for supplying a portion of said stored energy in the form of electrical current to the base of said transistor when said transistor is conducting.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 163 words

Claim 3
Dependent Claim 42 words
The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said means for storing energy comprises: a. a capacitor in series with said means for coupling energy induced in said secondary winding and said load impedance; and b. means for limiting the voltage across said capacitor.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 21 words
The apparatus of claim 2 wherein said means for limiting said capacitor voltage is a resistor in parallel with said capacitor.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 32 words
The apparatus of claim 2 wherein said means for limiting said capacitor voltage is a series combination of a plurality of diodes, said series combination being connected in parallel with said capacitor.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 23 words
The apparatus of claim 2 wherein said means for limiting said capacitor voltage is a Zener diode connected in parallel with said capacitor.
