Independent Claim
144 words
A composition for dressing leather and leather substitutes comprising an aqueous emulsion of organic solvent solutions of (A) a substituted cellulose selected from the group consisting of nitrocellulose having a D.S. of 1.9 to 2.4, cellulose acetate butyrate having a D.S. of 2.0 to 2.8 with a ratio of acetyl to butyryl groups of 1:1 to 4:1, and mixtures thereof, and (B) a linear polyurethane resin having a molecular weight range of from 10,000 to 500,000, in a weight ratio of A:B of 1:0.1 to 1:10, where the weight ratio of organic solvents to water is from 6:1 to 1:1, said aqueous emulsion containing from 10% to 60% by weight, based on the dry weight of said substituted cellulose of a non-ionic surface-active compound as an emulsifier and said organic solvents being water-immiscible and volatile in the temperature range of 80° to 160° C.
