Abstract
Abstract A thermally stable flame-resistant phosphonate polymer of the structure <IMAGE> WHEREIN R1 is methyl or ethyl, R2 is hydrogen or methyl and n is 3 to 100, is formed by the reaction of acrylic or methacrylic acid with an alkyl bicyclic phosphite of the structure <IMAGE> wherein R1 is as above. The phosphonate polymer is useful in forming flame-resistant acrylic compositions such as molding powders and sheets from mixtures comprising the polymer and methyl methacrylate.
