Abstract

Abstract An improved electolytic cell top for the manufacture of alkali metal halates is disclosed, wherein the cell top has a substantially improved useful life. A titanium liner forms the interior surface of the cell top, and material cost can be minimized by choosing a titanium thickness sufficient to withstand forces created by hydrostatic pressures of electrolyte and by the weight of the cell, when supported by the enclosing structure of the present invention.
