An improved developing device for developing an electrostatic latent image on a photoconductive surface of a copying machine, the device having means for holding a mixture of carrier particles and toner particles, and means for transporting at least a portion of the mixture onto the photoconductive surface, wherein the improvement comprises: a coating on the surface of the transporting means, the coating having no affinity with the toner particles.
