Abstract

Abstract A novel process is disclosed for the preparation of a polyphenylene oxide resin wherein the copper catalyst is extracted by the use of a salt of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid and a quaternary ammonium salt. The process results in a decrease of the residual copper which is carried over into the polyphenylene oxide resin.
