Abstract

Abstract Release material applicator structure for utilization in a heat and pressure fuser including a fuser roll structure for fixing toner images to support sheets. The release material employed is solid at room temperature and liquid at the operating temperature of the heated fuser roll structure. It is disposed in a sump and contacts the fuser roll structure. A collector bar is supported by the sump such that it is disposed adjacent to the fuser roll structure and coextensive therewith. When the liquefied release material reverts back to its solid form it accumulates on the collector bar and the bar maintains contact of the release material with the fuser roll structure.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim 128 words
Release material applicator structure for utilization in a heat and pressure fuser including a heated fuser roll for fixing toner images to support sheets, said structure comprising: a sump for containing release material; release material disposed in said sump for contacting a heated fuser roll, said release material being solid at room temperature and being liquid at the operating temperature of a heat and pressure fuser; and means supported by said sump for maintaining said release material in contact with a fuser roll structure when said release material is solid, said means supported by said sump comprising a collector bar disposed adjacent a fuser roll structure, said collector bar restricting movement of said release material out of contact from a fuser foll when the release material is solid.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 128 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 32 words
Structure according to claim 1 wherein substantially all the surfaces of said sump contacted by said release material are coated with a material having a relatively low affinity for said release material.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 18 words
Structure according to claim 2 wherein said collector bar is fabricated from a relatively high surface energy material.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 12 words
Structure according to claim 3 wherein said surfaces are coated with tetrafluoroethylene.
