Claim 1
Independent Claim
125 words
A process for toning an electrophotographic layer comprising a photoconductive powdered material and a resinous binder which comprises adding at least two coloring materials to said layer, said coloring materials being selected from the group consisting of sensitizing dyes and pigments and mixtures thereof and having different fading rates in a succeeding bleaching process, forming a toner image on said electrophotographic layer, and selectively bleaching said sensitizing dyes after developing said layer so that one of said sensitizing dyes is bleached more than the other sensitizing dye or pigment, said other sensitizing dye or pigment being subjected to no further bleaching treatment to thereby tone said layer, said bleaching being conducted by applying a transparent lacquer containing at least 0.1 grams/meter 2 of a peroxide.
