Abstract

Abstract Grapefruit pulp is reacted with an alcohol or ketone, preferably a polyhydric alcohol such as propylene glycol or glycerin, in the presence of a free radical initiator such as ultraviolet light to produce a stable reaction product useful as an ingredient in various cosmetic products and for other purposes. The product is also highly effective as an antibacterial and antifungal agent.
