Abstract

Abstract A programmable controller is used to control the operation of a xerographic reproducing machine adapted to run in a simplex or duplex mode whereby copies are made on either or both sides of web material fed in a single pass and then cut into individual copy sheets. A master program for operating the machine components to produce copies in accordance with the copy run instructions inputted by the machine user is provided. The master program includes a subroutine to place the user's copy run instructions in preselected order irrespective of the order in which the copy run instructions are received, such order being correlated with the order in which the originals are presented for copying. In a second subroutine the controller periodically performs housekeeping chores checking the operational status of the machine.
