Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 2
Claim 1
Independent Claim 94 words
The process of reducing β-cyanoethyltrialkoxysilane to mercaptopropyltrialkoxysilane which comprises reacting said cyanoethyltrialkyloxysilane at a temperature between about 50° C and about 300° C with sulfur and hydrogen in the ratio of at least 3 moles of hydrogen for each mole of the silane and at least one mole of sulfur for each mole of the silane, in the presence of about 0.001 to about 10 weight percent based on the weight of the silane, sulfur and hydrogen, of a sulfide or polysulfide of a transition metal consisting of cobalt, nickel, titanium, rhenium and molybdenum.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 94 words
