In a magnetic recording medium having a non-magnetic base and a magnetic layer formed thereon containing magnetizable particles dispersed in a resinous binder, the improvement comprising said magnetic layer having an organosilicon compound represented by the formula (RCOO).sub.n Si(CH.sub.3).sub.4-n where R is an aliphatic group containing from 7 to 17 carbon atoms and n is an integer from 1 to 3, said compound being present in an amount of from 0.3 to 5 parts by weight for every 100 parts by weight of said magnetizable particles.
