Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 16
Claim 1
Independent Claim 78 words
A method for the provision of a primary standard which method comprises: placing into a container of known volume a known amount of a material from which a gas may be released in a known amount by heating; sealing said container; effecting the dissociation of said gas from said material in said container by heating said material to its dissociation temperature; and withdrawing from said container a known amount of said gas for use in calibrating a detector.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 78 words
A method for the provision of a primary standard which method comprises: placing into a container of known volume a known amount of a material from which a gas may be released in a known amount by heating; sealing said container; effecting the dissociation of said gas from said material in said container by heating said material to its dissociation temperature; and withdrawing from said container a known amount of said gas for use in calibrating a detector.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 19 words
A method in accordance with claim 1 in which said material releases a mixture of gases upon said heating.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 27 words
A method in accordance with claim 1 in which said gas is released at a temperature no higher than about 200° C. and is an inorganic gas.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 27 words
A method in accordance with claim 1 in which said gas is released at a temperature no higher than about 200° C. and is an organic gas.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 15 words
A method in accordance with claim 1 in which said container has a known volume.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 29 words
A method in accordance with claim 1 in which said container has in it more than one kind of the said material, thereby to produce a mixture of gases.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 16 words
A method in accordance with claim 1 in which said sealing is effected using a septum.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 23 words
A method in accordance with claim 7 in which an aliquot of said gas is withdrawn through said septum using a gas-tight syringe.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 19 words
A method in accordance with claim 1 in which said material is a combination of a clathrate and gas.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 15 words
A method in accordance with claim 9 in which said clathrate is an inorganic clathrate.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 15 words
A method in accordance with claim 9 in which said clathrate is an organic clathrate.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 22 words
A method in accordance with claim 1 in which said material is a combination of a transition metal complex and a gas.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 15 words
A method in accordance with claim 12 in which said complex is an iridium compound.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim 20 words
A method in accordance with claim 13 in which said iridium compound is a gas adduct of chlorocarbonylbis (triphenylphosphine) iridium(1).
Claim 16
Dependent Claim 20 words
A method in accordance with claim 13 in which said iridium compound is a gas adduct of bis(1,2-diphenylphosphinoethane) iridium(1) chloride.
