Abstract
Abstract Compounds of the formula A-X-N<+>-N<-> n, wherein A is a linking group, X is an O-CO- or -SO2- group and n is at least 2, are prepared from the corresponding N',N'-disubstituted hydrazides by quaternisation and treatment with alkali or reaction with an alkylene epoxide or from the corresponding compound wherein n = 1 and A is a polymerisable group by polymerisation. The compounds are unstable to heat and may be used as cross-linking agents for polymers or as chain-extending agents, bonding agents or adhesives.
