Abstract
Abstract A catalytic composite suitable for hydrocarbon conversion processes, comprising hydrogen fluoride-antimony pentafluoride supported on fluorided alumina, having a fluorine content of at least 55 weight percent. Preferably the fluorided alumina support contains at least 60 weight percent fluorine and has a surface area less than 10 m 2 /gram. The catalyst is particularly useful for isomerization and alkylation processes.

Claim 1
Independent Claim
75 words
A process for alkylating an isoparaffinic hydrocarbon with an olefinic hydrocarbon which comprises contacting a mixture of said isoparaffinic hydrocarbon and said olefinic hydrocarbon, at alkylation conditions including a temperature of about -80°F to 150°F, with a catalytic composition comprising hydrogen fluoride-antimony pentafluoride on a fluorided alumina support, said support having a fluorine content of at least about 60 weight percent and a pore volume of about 0.05 cc to about 0.7 cc per gram.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
28 words
A process in accordance with claim 1 wherein said alkylatable hydrocarbon is a C 4 -C 6 isoparaffin and said olefin is a C 2 -C 6 olefin.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
22 words
A process in accordance with claim 1 wherein said catalytic composite has a surface area between 0.1 and 10 m 2 /gram.
