Claim 1
Independent Claim
263 words
Throttle control mechanism comprising: a first cylinder with a closure at each end thereof; a first piston reciprocatable within said first cylinder; a first piston rod connected to said first piston and extending through one of said first cylinder closures to the exterior of the first cylinder; a second cylinder with a closure at each end thereof; a second piston reciprocatable within said second cylinder; a second piston rod connected to said second piston and extending through one of said second cylinder closures to the exterior of said second cylinder; a member pivoted to both said piston rods at respective separated pivots outside of said cylinders; fluid inlet means into a region of said first cylinder at one side of the first piston and into a region of said second cylinder at one side of the second piston; whereby pressurized fluid introduced through said fluid inlet means into said cylinders urges both said pistons to move longitudinally within their respective cylinders; means urging each piston to move longitudinally in the direction opposite that in which the fluid pressure is urging it; the longitudinal axes of said cylinders being oriented relative to each other so that when each of said pistons moves in the direction in which it is urged by the fluid pressure it has a component of motion in the direction opposite that of the other piston when said other piston moves in the direction in which it is urged by the fluid pressure, whereby the pivot of each piston rod acts as a fulcrum for movement of the other piston rod.

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
27 words
Mechanism according to claim 1 in which said one of said first cylinder closures is at the opposite side of the first piston from the fluid inlet.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
29 words
Mechanism according to claim 2 in which the first cylinder closure through which the first piston rod extends is a plug bushing adjustable longitudinally relative to the first cylinder.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
42 words
Mechanism according to claim 3 in which the means urging the first piston to move longitudinally in the direction opposite that in which the fluid pressure is urging it comprises a first spring placed between the first piston and the plug bushing.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
31 words
Mechanism according to claim 2 in which the second cylinder closure other than that through which the second piston rod extends comprises a plug adjustable longitudinally relative to the second cylinder.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
43 words
Mechanism according to claim 5 in which the means urging the second piston to move longitudinally in the direction opposite that in which the fluid pressure is urging it comprises a second spring placed between the longitudinally adjustable plug and the second piston.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
18 words
Mechanism according to claim 1 in which the longitudinal axes of said first and second cylinders are parallel.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
51 words
Mechanism according to claim 1 in which one of said cylinders and its piston is of greater diameter than the other of said cylinders and its piston, said larger diameter piston reaching the end of its stroke before substantial movement of the smaller diameter piston commences, as the fluid pressure increases.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
38 words
Mechanism according to claim 8 in which said member has an extension from the pivot of the piston rod of the larger piston, in the direction away from the pivot of the piston rod of the smaller piston.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
19 words
Mechanism according to claim 9 in which said extension is of greater length than the distance between said pivots.
